Engineering health through science.
For many people, dental visits are associated with apprehension, stress, and pain. But it doesn't have to be that way. In our practice, we work together to provide a welcoming environment, free from physical and psychological distress. We use methods and materials that allow us to apply a gentle touch, minimize discomfort, and achieve high-quality results. To ensure we serve you best, we integrate cutting-edge techniques that have been found to produce superior outcomes and better patients experiences.
Dr. Shepherd seeks to engage you in every step of the dental process so you have a full understanding of and can make informed decisions regarding your oral health. Our commitment is to providing the highest standard of general and cosmetic dental care using the most advanced tools available with compassion and integrity. We never recommend unnecessary treatment, are always upfront about costs, and all of our recommendations are guided by our responsibility to serve the best interests of our patients. This approach allows us to build strong, long-term relationships.
Our office uses only local, high quality dental laboratories, and absolutely no dental lab work is ever sent abroad. We use only FDA cleared materials made by the most renowned dental companies in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Sweden.
Dr. John “Brad” Shepherd, D.M.D.
Dr. Shepherd’s approach to dentistry combines clinical excellence, empathy, and a gentle touch to provide the highest quality dental care.
Dr. Shepherd grew up in Orange County and his working life began in construction, building custom homes in Big Bear and Orange County. Along the way, he realized that his true passion was in healthcare—and that dentistry is quite similar to building houses. Both require the ability to strike a delicate balance of robust engineering and aesthetic beauty in order to produce the best results.
After graduating from dental school at NSU’s College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Shepherd joined practices in Las Vegas and Hawaii as an associate, allowing him to serve a diverse array of patients. In 2018, he made Southern California his home once again, taking the reins from his long-time mentor, Dr. Bjarne Kvarnstrom, to establish his own practice in Fountain Valley.
Today, Dr. Shepherd lives with his wife, Susanna, and son, Dylan, in Long Beach. When he’s not working, he enjoys travelling, swimming, surfing, golfing, and spending time with Susanna.
Dr. Shepherd is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Orange County Dental Society. He continually participates in ongoing education to hone his skills and deepen his understanding of dental health.
